Meet the Executive Board - Fall 2014

Name: Katie Key
Position: President
Year: Junior
Major: Nutritional Sciences/ Pre-Med and a Certificate in Global Health
Why I Joined STF: I originally went to the first STF {Wisconsin} meeting for a school project. The assignment was to go to the Student Org Fair and attend the kick-off meeting of an organization that we weren't thinking of joining/ weren't interesting in. Needless to say, after attending the first ever She's the First {Wisconsin} meeting, I was hooked. I fell in love with the mission of She's the First and the passion just keeps on growing!
Interesting Fact: I have a twin sister who also goes to UW!

Name: Lily Grant
Position: Vice President - Community Outreach and Engagement
Year: Senior
Major: Gender and Women's Studies & Community and Nonprofit Leadership
Why I Joined STF: I believe that everyone has the potential to change the world, but their ability to do so is partly determined by circumstances beyond their control. She's the First evens the playing field and provides the opportunity for girls all over the world to come into their own, by attending school or starting a chapter. It fosters global relations and a broader sense of awareness, I can't say enough about it! As soon as I heard about this org. I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
Interesting Fact: Over winter break I spent a few days in the Galápagos Islands, then studied in mainland Ecuador for a week helping women start their own business.

Name: Maddy Horan
Position: Vice President of Communications
Year: Junior
Major: Journalism and Mass Communications with a certificate in Digital Studies
Why I joined STF: I joined She's The First my freshman year of college originally because I wanted to get involved in such a big school and wanted to find ways to make it smaller. But I have stayed with She's The First because there is a strong sense of community within our chapter and education, namely girls education, is something I am extremely passionate about.
Interesting Fact: My cousin is a movie star.
