Why I Joined STF: When I found out about She's the First, I knew I had to get involved and bring a chapter to UW. I had learned about the gender gap in developing countries in an Educational Policy Studies class which sparked my interest in the cause and I felt compelled to do something about it.
Interesting Fact: I have over 6,000 pins on Pinterest. Is that sad?

Name:  Katie Key
Position: Vice President, VP-Global Awareness
Year: Sophomore
Major: Nutritional Sciences/ Pre-Med
Why I Joined STF: I originally went to the first STF {Wisconsin} meeting for a school project. The assignment was to go to the Student Org Fair and attend the kick-off  meeting of an organization that we weren't thinking of joining/ weren't interesting in. Needless to say, after attending the first ever She's the First {Wisconsin} meeting, I was hooked. I fell in love with the mission of She's the First and the passion just keeps on growing!
Interesting Fact: I have a twin sister who also goes to UW!

Name: Laurel Stokes
Position: VP Fundraising
Year: 2nd Year Graduate Student
Major: Masters in Special Education
Why I Joined STF: I am a strong believer in the simple concept that "knowledge is power"! Knowledge also has a ripple effect, STF has taken this idea and through it's efforts provided an outlet for this ripple to take place. Providing an opportunity for girls in developing countries to use thier voices and ideas that may have otherwise been ignored. I knew when I first heard about STF's goals I wanted to be a part of an organization that understood how powerful an education could be. To me STF is unique that not only do those a part of it get to raise money, make friends and join a strong community of change driven individuals. It's that we as members get to use OUR voices, ideas and resources to bring light to an issue that affects all of us in this world! We aren't just hidden behind a corporate message of why it's important to recognize our cause, but rather each STF chapter can use thier own styles to bring awareness. We are directly behind how strong or weak our organization can be!
Interesting Fact: I have a SERIOUS obsession with giraffes
