Major: Elementary Education and Special Education
Why She Joined She's the First: I'm passionate about education and the opportunities/experiences it brings to people. She's the First brings girls one step closer to reaching their dreams and I am so thankful to be a part of that.

Why She Joined She's the First: I wanted to join a service organization this year, and I really believe in education, especially for women, so what better organization than She's the First?! :)
Other Orgs She is Involved with/Interests: Best Buddies here on campus; otherwise all my time goes into school and preparing for Miss USA
Favorite Place on Campus: State Street

Haley has been unbelievably committed to She's the First, even though this is her first semester in it. We are very lucky to have her in our organization because of that, but also because she is Miss Wisconsin! We are thrilled to continually have such amazing people outside of She's the First join our organization and help us promote gender and educational equality. Recently, Haley was a HUGE help when we were baking cupcakes for our cupcake sale. She stayed the entire time, helping wherever was needed (even washing dishes) and did it without being asked. We can not thank her enough for that.

Alison Sharpless
Picture
Year: Sophomore
Major: Chinese and Comparative Literature
Why She Joined She's the First: Since I've started college, I've realized not only how much I value my own education, but also how education can be such a strong force in the developing world. I understand how it feels to be passionate about learning, and really wanted to do something to help girls who also love to learn, but may not be able to afford school. After my first meeting with She's the First, I knew it would be a great organization, and my interest in education has only continued to grow!
Other Orgs She is Involved with/Interests: Chinese Language and Culture Club, UW Madison's International Learning Community, classical piano
Favorite Place on Campus: the Observatory Hill overlook

Alison has been committed to She’s the First and an asset to our organization since she first joined. She was very supportive during our Day of the Girl Week and is always an enthusiastic contributor to the Global Awareness Committee. We appreciate her dedication to our chapter and her passion for She’s the First!

Sophie Dubuisson
Picture
Year: Sophomore
Major: Journalism and Strategic Communication with a certificate in Global Cultures
Why She Joined She's the First: I am extremely interested in the developing world, so She's the First and their amazing cause stood out to me at the org fair. I was immediately interested in joining in on something that could help make a difference in the lives of others. I have been lucky enough to receive and continue to receive an education, and I believe that it is important that these girls in the developing world have the same opportunity. I fell in love with the org after the first meeting I went to my freshman year and am so happy that I can continue making a difference!
Other Orgs She is Involved with/Interests: Best Buddies Wisconsin, Association for Women in Communication, Public Relations Student Society of America/Bucky PR, Tri Delta sorority.
Favorite Place on Campus: I love laying on Bascom Hill when it's warm and sunny.

Sophie has been in She's the First from the very start and has been unbelievably dedicated and committed to our chapter. She always comes to meetings enthusiastic and always has great ideas to share. She was awarded one of our "Global Gurus" last year and for good reason! She is a leader in the organization and a great example of someone who is definitely making a difference for girls' education. We don't know what we would do without her!

  Jordan Craig
Picture
Year: Freshman
Major: Pre-Med, History and History of Science, Certificate in Japanese Professional Communication
Why She Joined She's The First: My families have shown me what a difference an education can make. On my mother's side, most of my relatives have college degrees and are able to support themselves and their communities. However, on my paternal side, almost everyone either dropped out of high school or didn't go on to college, and now they live far below the poverty line. On that side, my cousin Noelle and I are the first females to receive a college education. Hopefully, we are causing the cycle in our family to break. Through She's The First, this could happen all around the world, too.
Other Orgs She is Involved With/Interests: Bucky Volunteering Association, Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honor Society, Irish dance, mixed martial arts, and piano
Favorite Place on Campus: 1st Floor Women's Bathroom in Nancy Nicholas Hall (School of Human Ecology). Seriously. Go in there and you'll see why.
