Mug Decorating Night
Once again, She's the First hosted a mug decorating night - although this year, we held the event at the Chazen! It was tons of fun, was very successful, and people made beautiful mugs! With holiday music, hot chocolate, and happy vibes, it was all around a great way to get into the festive spirit while supporting a great cause. |

Homecoming Parade Bake Sale

This year, we held our annual bake sale during the homecoming day parade! With every combination of cupcakes including carrot cake and red velvet, the event was fun and helped raise significant funds for our scholars.
2018 Day of the Girl

We celebrated Day of the Girl on Library Mall. We celebrated the event with music, treats, and education about our organization and the state of girls' education around the world!
Madison Curd Crawl
With the help of over 15 Madison restaurants, STF-UW and the Madison community ate our way through a cheese curd crawl. The event was extremely successful and through its profits helped support so many scholarships! By purchasing a wristband, participants received discounts on curds throughout the day and were able to participate in an event that swept the streets of Madison! The Curd Crawl was super fun and delicious, and we're so excited to host it again next year!
Outstanding Achievement in Fundraising Award
We were honored to be recognized with the Outstanding Achievement in Fundraising Award at the She's the First Summit in NYC in 2017! Thanks to our amazing chapter members and supporters for helping to make this happen.
Day of Service
In 2017, we hosted a Day of Service event, put on in partnership with the Morgridge Center for Public Service and Wisconsin Alumni Student Board! UW-Madison students reflected on the question "What does the world need from you?" as part of the Ask Big Questions Campus Conversation Challenge. We also asked students how their education is preparing them for their future as part of the She's the First #WithMyBookbag campaign.
Shamrock Shuffle
In 2017, we ran the Shamrock Shuffle 5K as part of the #SweatforSTF campaign. Chapter members raised almost $3,000 through fundraising pages and a generous donation match from Positive Tracks, enough to support seven scholars!
#SweatforSTF Futsal Tournament
In 2017, we hosted our first futsal tournament! Students competed for a variety of prizes from local businesses. We raised over $800 with a donation match from Positive Tracks, enough to support a year of education for two STF scholars. Thank you Positive Tracks and all participants for supporting us!
Book Drive

In 2017, we partnered with the Superhero Club at James Madison Memorial High School and a local Girl Scouts troop to collect over 1,000 books. Books were donated to Schenk Elementary School and Sherman Middle School.
At the Schenk Elementary, books were distributed in the library and throughout classrooms. The school also had "Ally Superhero Night", where children received tickets which they redeemed for one or two of our donated books to take home. The books at Sherman Middle School will be given to an after-school program.

#TaggedAroundTheWorld
We partnered with MODA and SERRV on the campus Day of Service Event to raise awareness about where our clothes are from. Students cut the tags off their shirts, pinned the tags on a map, and wrote why they care about where their clothes are from.
Music Showcase Featuring Seasaw, Sam Sardina, & Madison Malone
Last Spring, we put on a music showcase at 100state featuring Seasaw, Sam Sardina, and Madison Malone. Attendees participated in a raffle to win prizes from generous local donors, dined on a variety of food and drinks, and enjoyed the music.
Wheelhouse Wine Glass Decorating
Our annual Wine Glass Decorating Class began at Wheelhouse Studios for Galentine's Day in 2016. Attendees purchased wine glasses and used paint, glitter, and more to decorate their glasses. Since our first class, we raised enough to support a year of education for four scholars! Thank you to Wheelhouse Studios for hosting this event!
Cups for a Cause

We partnered with We're Better Than That: Men Against Sexual Assault to host a cup night. Attendees purchased cups for $5 to receive drink specials. All cup proceeds benefited the two organizations' missions to send girls to school in developing countries and spread awareness to end sexual assault. Shoutout to The Double U for hosting!
#BakeAChange Cupcake Catering
Since 2013, we have baked a change through tie-dye cupcakes! We have offered a cupcake catering service to groups on campus, students, and local businesses. Almost every year, we have raised enough to support a scholar!
CYC #SweatForSTF
In partnership with CYC Fitness, we have hosted an annual spinning class since 2015 during the #SweatForSTF campaign. We also held a raffle at the event of items donated by local businesses and organizations.
Girl Rising Screening
Our chapter hosted a free screening for community members of Girl Rising, a film that tells the stories of nine girls living in the developing world and the impact of education on their lives.
SERRV Fashion Show
SERRV, a fair trade store that supports disadvantaged farmers and artisans around the world, has been wonderful partner to our chapter. They have hosted a fashion show fundraiser for two years to benefit our scholars.
He For She Awareness Campaign
Leading up to the fall of 2014, Emma Watson gave a speech at the UN called "He For She". We decided to take our own spin on the movement with an awareness event on campus and by selling t-shirts. Our event even made it on the front page of one of our school's newspapers.

She's the First Leadership Summit 2013
She's the First University of Wisconsin-Madison was named the "Campus Chapter of the Year" at the 2013 She's the First Leadership Summit in New York City. Founder and president, Emily Parkinson, and vice president, Katie Key, were in the Big Apple to accept the award and learn so much more about why it is so important to educate girls. After the summit, the campus leaders were asked to write posts about their experiences. Check out what one of our campus leaders wrote!
Fashion Forward 2013
Fashion Forward 2013 was our biggest fundraising event of the year, and it couldn't have been more of a blast! A huge thank you to everyone that donated, helped out, or just came out to the Museum of Contemporary Art and made the night as successful as it was!

Cupcake Sale 2012
She's the First's cupcake sale is one of the organization's biggest fundraisers. Why? Because the cupcakes are tie-dyed! After a night of experimenting how one makes tie-dye cupcakes, we set up shop on State Street in Madison and succeeded in our chapter's first ever cupcake sale!
Make Your Mark 2013
Make Your Mark was all about awareness! We set up our banner (and our wide array of colorful markers) on a very busy sidewalk in Madison and asked people to sign our banner. People signed what they were the first in their family, friend group, community, etc. to do! It was amazing to hear people's accomplishments.
